MILANA has been hitting things to find rhythm ever since she can remember, starting formal drum lessons at the age of 4.
Now at age 9, she's been a Top 20 Finalist in the 'Hit Like A Girl' Global Female Drum Contest for the past 4 years (2014-2017), as well as winning the contests first-ever "Rising Star" Award (2017).
In addition, she's been awarded: Downbeat Magazine's Best Youth Blues/Rock/Pop Ensemble Award (2017), the Caleb Chapman Soundhouse Outstanding Soloist Award for New Bop Big Band (2017), Outstanding Musician (2017), and the Producer's Award (2016).
At 6 years old, Milana played with Stewart Copeland (The Police) and performed on stage with Sheila E. during her live concert.
Since then, she’s played with Chris Bullock (Snarky Puppy), Rashawn Ross (Dave Mathews Band), Ndugu Chancler (Michael Jackson), Jerry Cortez & Adolfo Acosta (Tower of Power), Branden Campbell & Elaine Bradley (Neon Trees), Derico Watson (Victor Wooten), Ruben Alvarez (Arturo Sandoval), Robbie Connoly (Fictionist), as well as master percussionists Daniel Glass, and Brazil's Dudu Fuentes & Ailton Nunes.
Playing in performing bands since age 6, she has been a musician in the multi award-winning Caleb Chapman Soundhouse under the direction of grammy-nominee and Jazz Education Network President, Caleb Chapman - playing in bands: 'Jukebox Antihero' (rock), 'Mystery Tour' (Beatles), 'New Bop Big Band', 'Lonely Hearts Club' (Beatles), and 'Epoch' (rock orchestra). She and her friends also started their own band, 'BEKM'. She just finished touring San Francisco, and is looking forward to her upcoming L.A. tour.
From 2015-2016, Milana kept her chops sharp drumming with the highly acclaimed Afro-Brazilian bateria/drumline 'Samba Fogo'.
Milana’s online videos average 500,000 views, and have been shared by one of her favorite drummers Josh Dun of Twenty One Pilots.
